Types of Omaha Poker
What makes Omaha poker unique is that it can be played in many ways. There are variations in Omaha poker depending upon limits and bets. Omaha Hi/Lo, Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo, Fixed Limit Omaha, Pot Limit Omaha and Omaha High are to name a few. Pot limit Omaha is played by betting depending upon the amount in the pot, while fixed limit Omaha is played by setting a limit in advance. On the other hand, Omaha Hi is played with blinds and Ante, while Omaha Hi/Lo is a combination of both pot limit and fixed limit types. Basic Rules of Omaha Poker
If you know the basic rules of this game of bluffs and draws, then think you are prepared to play one with confidence. This game starts with the dealer dealing 4 cards each facing down to all the players. This is then followed by another deal of 3 cards each facing up and open for use by all the players. Then comes the last deal of 2 more cards facing up one by one. According to the rules of Omaha poker, a player can use only 2 of his 4 hole cards to make a hand. Each player can use 2 different hole cards in order to make high and low hands. These rules might appear confusing to a novice, but if practiced regularly, anyone can led anyone to play a game of Omaha poker.
Omaha Poker Strategies
There is no denying from the fact that people play a game to win and when the game is as big as Omaha poker, it’s good to know the winning strategies in advance. Remember that it is a game of bluffing and if you indulge in some, you can win a lot. Even if you get an average pair of cards, try to bluff other players that you have the strongest pair. Another strategy that can help you win in this game is to raise the bet before the flop. This will not only keep the weaker players out, but will also make you more focused on who’s going to play for long.
Omaha Limits
Like all the poker games, Omaha poker is also bounded by limits. One can choose to play as a fixed limit game or as a pot limit game. In a fixed limit Omaha poker game, the raise limit is set in advance. While in a pot limit Omaha poker game, the highest raise is not allowed to exceed the total pot sum money. Usually only 3 raises are allowed in Omaha poker. On the other hand, there also exists a no limit Omaha poker game, where a player can bet without any limits in both betting rounds and in initial betting.
