Knowing about the hand rankings in poker is a very important aspect. According to the way the game moves, the players have to construct hands. These hands are of five cards out of total of seven cards, which are in accordance to rules that are set well in advance. In very fast played poker games, the less time you spend in selecting the best hands, the easier it would be for you. You can win only after you succeed in building a very strong hand. The poker hand rankings are as follows:
Royal Flush
It is the strongest hand. It consists of the King, Queen, jack, ten and ace. It is simply unbeatable.
Straight Flush
It is a rare hand. This hand is constructed when the player manages to get the five consecutive numbers form the same suit. The ranking is done accordingly to the highest card of the compared suits.
Four of a kind
Any hand that includes four cards of a single rank constructs the four of a kind hand. The fifth card of the hand is used to comparison. So, the player should look forward to constructing the biggest first hand.
Full House
This hand contains further diversification like 3 cards, which belong to one rank while the other two of different rank. For example you can have three kings and two queens.
Flush
This is comparatively easier to construct. In this hand, the cards should not be consecutive. The rank of the hand is decided in accordance with the highest rank of the flush. If by chance both the players construct the hands in such a way that the first highest rank happens to be the same, the second highest rank will be held for scrutiny. This hand falls below a full house but above a straight.
The straight
This hand is different from the straight flush in which the five cards arranged should be from same suit. Here the player gets the freedom of choosing other suits also. The Ace can be used according to the jurisdiction. It can be the highest and well as the lowest card.
Three of a kind
It is a little different from the Full house. Here, the three cards can be of any suit. But they should belong to the same rank. It is also called as prile, set or trips. The other two cards should be unmatched. Higher the ranking of the three cards, better are the chances of winning the pot.
Two pair
As the name suggests, there should be two pairs of cards having the same rank but belonging to a different suit; like you can have one pair of kings and other pair of aces. They are considered one of the lower cards in poker.
One pair
In this, out of the five cards, the player should have only one pair of the same ranking cards. They as already followed should belong to different suits. This hand is the second lowest hand in poker.
High Card
This card wins only when the players are not able to construct the above mentioned high cards.
