The popular card game of Blackjack can be played using a single deck or multiple decks of cards. The strongest possible hand of black jack is a combination of an ace and any ten-point card. The bet ends up in a push if both the dealer and the player come up with a black jack. A winning blackjack pays 3:2 in addition to even money.
A perfect black jack strategy would help you to play in every possible combination without needing to know about the rest of the cards remaining in the deck If you have a soft hand with a value less than 18 and more than 13 then double down would be the best move if the dealer has an up card of 6 or 5. On the other hand of your hand is valued less than 17 go for the hit. In case you have a hand of 19 or more then stand to avoid getting busted. In case you have 18 and the dealer anything less than six you can hit.
The game starts when the dealer gives 2 cards each to the players and himself. Player cards are always dealt face up while card of only one dealer is dealt face up and the other that remains face down is called the hole card. If the dealer has ace or ten there is strong chance of a black jack, which makes him the winner. Once it has been made clear that the dealer has no blackjack the players start playing their hands. Some of the common strategies adopted include.
- Stand: In case a player is happy with his hand, the best move would be to stand put.
- Hit: In case he needs to add up the points, he should take fresh cards until he reaches 21, which is known as hit.
- Double: It is a good option for those players, who might think that need only one more card. They could go for doubling their bet by going for just one card. This is possible only on the first two cards in the game.
- Split: If the first two cards of the player are of identical points, he has the option to split it into two separate hands, wherein each card becomes the initial card of a fresh hand. He should opt for a wager of equivalent value to the foremost one to be used in the second hand. Re- splitting of cards other than aces is not allowed. Doubling after splitting is yet another option.
- Surrender: Player has the choice to surrender on the first two cards, if he is not confident of his chances. By doing so, he forfeits half the bet along with his hand. If the face up card of the dealer has a ten or ace, and the dealer peeps at his hole card for a blackjack just prior to the turn of the first player's, then it is referred to as "late surrender." On the other hand, if the dealer has not checked for a black jack, it is "early surrender, which is a comparatively better option for players as it protects them from the dealer blackjack.
